The iHome Speaker System Review
This iHome Speaker System iP1 review is about a portable home theater set up that produces studio-like high quality sounds. Read what we had to say about it in this in-depth review. When we first heard about the iHome Speaker System it was from one of our colleagues that brought the device in one day. Upon the first few minutes everyone was pulling out their iPods or smartphones to play their favorite beats. We were astonished by the musical output it was capable of.
Even though it’s called the “iHome Speaker System” we found out that this is not a product made by Apple. However, it can still function flawlessly with using an iPod, IPhone, or any other mp3 player while charging your device that’s attached. It supports all iPod and iPhone models with its universal dock station connector. There are actually plenty of good features to talk about this iHome device but we will get to that in a moment.
There are different models of the iHome Speaker System and we did this review based on the iHome iP1 model which is probably the best model you can buy because of its sound output and features. And when we say “features” we really mean FEATURES.
Here is a list of some of the features that we will go over in detail:
- 100 watts of power capable of amazing sound
- 1-inch silk-dome tweeters
- 4-inch woofers with custom glass-fiber diaphragm
- Component/Composite video outputs for viewing videos on TV’s
- 3.5-mm Auxiliary input allowing connection on external audio devices
- Full-functioning remote control
- Digital Power Station Mode
- Universal iPod/iPhone connection
The iHome iP1 System is about 15.4 pounds and is around 16 inches in length. It makes it easy to carry around and is a practical portable device. It has 100-watt class D twin 4-inch woofers that are complimented by a pair of 1-inch tweeters. This portable home theater system comes with a full-functioning remote control that includes iPhone/iPod menu functions. The iHome has auxiliary inputs for connecting to external audio devices as well.
Also, if you happen to have videos on your iPod or iPhone you can hook up the iHome device to your TV by using the component/composite video outputs on the iHome itself. This is great if you happen to have downloaded a movie, tv show, or film clip of something and you want to watch it on a full size TV screen. Just simply attach your iPod or iPhone to the iHome device and hook it up to your TV.
How smart is the new iHome iP1 model? Inside this amazing portable sound system is a complex chip based algorithm that helps custom tune the sound output to give an maximize performance. So your probably wondering what this chip is all about and who developed it? Well, believe it or not the chip that custom tunes this device is developed by Bongiovi Acoustics Engineers and if you’ve never heard of them then you should know they have over 40 years of experience in music recording. They call this chip DPS (Digital Power Station) and it is the first of its kind to be implemented into a consumer electronic device.
All you need to do to active the Digital Power Station is press the “B” button on the iHome speaker system and the DPS will continuously scan the program material and deliver accurate boosts to improve the frequency curve. For those who aren’t that tech savvy this means you get better and clearer sound quality with a more resonant bass and peak output.
There are so many reasons to get the iHome iP1 speaker system. The combination of the 1-inch silk dome tweeters and the 4-inch glass-fiber woofers provide crystal clear highs and mid-range clarity and rich, warm bass. Plus don’t forget this is the first consumer audio device to integrate DPS chip that will enhance your sound frequency. To conclude this review we feel that the iHome Speaker System is a high-tech device but it provides a user friendly experience with its simple and sleek design. For the price, you get more than your money’s worth; you get a portable home theater system that will bring your listening experience to a whole new level.
