Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 3D HDTV Review
This is our official Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 55inch LED 3D HDTV review and we are excited to get our hands on this awesome 1080p 240 Hz 3D-Ready LED HDTV. The Sony Bravia HX800 series comes in a sleek piano black trim and has a 55inch display.
If you are considering a 3D HDTV but want to save a little money then the Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 might be a good choice for you. The Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 has 3D quality video imaging that is comparable to the Samsun UN55C8000 and if this HDTV is being compared to a Samsung then you know it has to be good. The Sony Bravia HX800 series is one of the most affordable 3D HDTV’s that you will find on the current market right now.
The Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 has a thick 2.9 inch LED display which is similar to any other mid-range LED TV that you will find. But, if you want a 3D capable TV then your choices are limited when it comes to finding a good quality 3D TV. There are only a few brands out there that produce a 3D TV that are worth checking out and Sony is one of them. There is also “Dynamic Edge” LED backlighting on this HDTV which gives the picture quality the ability to offer local dimming from an edge-lit array.
There are also some great features that you will find on the Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 and basic extras such as Netflix, Yotube, Pandora, and many others when you go online with the TV. These extras that you can get through the Bravia internet video are starting to be standard features that will be on most new HDTV’s regardless if they are LED, LCD, or 3D.
Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 Features:
- LED-lit display at 55 inches and image aspect ratio 16:9
- 1080p resolution and 3D ready
- Motionflow 240HZ technology for smooth motion in fast action video display
- Supported by the BRAVIA Engine 3 fully digital video processor
- Wi-Fi ready (with optional dongle) for online access to BRAVIA internet video
- Input: 4 HDMI, 2 component, 2 compsite, 1 PC, 1 USB, 1 Ethernet, 1 optical digital audio output
- Includes a removable stand that measure 50.4 X 31.5 X 13.8 inches with stand
The display on the Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 is great in low-lit areas and shows its true potential. However, when in well-lit areas the HX800 series can seem a little washed out and gives a slightly disappointing experience when watching Blu-rays or high-def TV. But, this is usually normal for higher-end LED Tv’s and the Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 is best suited for home theater rather than living rooms. Of course if you do decide to display this TV in your living room and it is a well-lit area then you can always adjust the picture settings where you can get the best display.
The connections you will find on the Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 are multiple HDMI connections, an Ethernet port to go online, PC input to play videos from your computer, and multiple USB connections for hooking up cameras and camcorders. One thing the Sony Bravia could have included would be a memory card slot, but other than that we are pleased with all the connections it provides.
Where to Buy a Sony Bravia 3D HDVT for a good price:
If you are looking to shop for the best deals on one of these awesome 3D HDTV’s then the first place you might want to look is at Amazon.com or Ebay.com simply because you will usually find a cheaper price at those sites compared to paying full retail. Sometimes there are good deals on EBAY but you have to fight to be the top bidder and after that you have to hope that the seller has a good reputation and delivers on time. When buying from Amazon.com you don’t have to deal with bidding. Amazon.com also have shipping options if you want to get your HDTV sooner then normal shipping times. So in our conclusion based on this review the Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 is focused mainly on the 3D technology it provides and it really looks great when watching a 3D movie. It may not be one of the top LED TV’s in its class but it is a good TV to own for 3D purposes and is affordable compared to other brands and models. If you can deal with the slightly thicker LED and want a 3D TV that is affordable then perhaps the Sony Bravia KDL55HX800 is the right TV for you.
